Railway Protection Force (RPF)

The Railway Police Service (RPF) is responsible for the security of the railway tracks, personnel and equipment. The Director General is at the apex of the service. This post is equivalent to that of the Additional Secretary.

Railway Protection Force Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the Railway Protection Force exam is the same as for other services. Once the candidate clears the civil services and gets allotment to the Indian foriegn service as per his rank, he has to go through specified training.

Post of Assistant Security Commissioner in Railway Protection Force Recruitment and Training

The Recruitment of RPF Officers or Railway Protection Force is carried out in three ways,
One is the regular Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC commission every year, second though upgrading the RPF Inspectors as per the RPF Recruitment Rules of 1994 and third is through recruitment of Ex-Army Officers to 10% position of Group ‘A’ officers.

The trainee officers recruited through direct recruitment and though promotions are sent for probationary training at several national academies which includes JR RPF Academy – Lucknow which is among the central training institutes of Indian Railways.

The officers recruited through promotion from Group A are supposed to undertake foundation course and are trained in other different programmes with the trainee officers recruited in Civil Service Exams. The whole period of probation is almost two years and after completion the officers selected for Railway Protection Force are confirmed. Also the RPF Officers are provided with internal training during the service which is planned with Railways, DoPT and BPR&D.

Railway Protection Force Exam 2016

The Railway Protection Force exam 2016 notification has come and the last date of online application was on the 27th of may 2016. The date of prelims exam is 7th August 2016. The next exam will happen in 2017 around the same time.

Railway Protection Force syllabus 2016

The syllabus for the civil services exam in 2016 and every other year is the same for the Railway Protection Force as well as other services. There is no difference whatsoever.
